About Eurocup
Since 2002, basketball teams have competed for a cup to determine the top club team in European basketball. Originally known as the ULEB Cup, the tournament changed the format in the 2008-09 season and has subsequently been known as the EuroCup. Sports tickets for the qualifying matches and finals are always certain to sell quickly, especially when they are available at competitive prices.
The ultimate winners are determined through a qualification process that begins with a Regular Season, with 24 teams competing. These teams are chosen based on their performance in their own domestic leagues. Sports Events 365 provides tickets for the matches in the EuroCup that you’ll enjoy live and in person.
The Regular Season includes home and away matches for each team against every other team, and at the end of the season, the top 16 teams progress to a round-robin group stage. From this, 8 teams progress to a knockout tournament contested over best-of-3 matches.
Matches can be fast-paced and high scoring, so it is always wise to obtain your sports tickets for the Basketball Eurocup early to avoid disappointment. The teams are the best in Europe and would undoubtedly do well in competitions in any league.
In previous tournaments, the total number of teams competing has varied as has the exact structure of the tournament – the number of teams progressing to the group stage was 32 in the 2007-08 season, for example. In every case, the winning team has had to work hard to secure victory. In the time since the tournament began in 2002, only 11 clubs have won overall, and only 3 have won more than once.
Those teams are Rytas (Lithuania) and Khimki (Russia) both winning twice, and Spanish team Valencia Basket winning 4 times – including the 2018-19 tournament. Valencia Basket player Bojan Dubljevic is the holder of the record for the highest total number of points scored across the tournament with 1217.
The club teams are comprised of players from all around the world, so if you want sports tickets to see some of the best club players around, choose Sports Events 365 to get your tickets at competitive prices.
The winners of the EuroCup gain qualification to the EuroLeague in the next season which always makes the matches hotly contested. The matches are held in stadiums and arenas around Europe which means matches are accessible for many people, proving the tournament to be popular with basketball fans.
